Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs evacuated 45 Indonesian citizens from Iran this week as regional conflicts intensified, with arrivals scheduled in Jakarta between 14 and 16 April 2026.
The group, primarily students from Qom alongside migrant workers, is being repatriated in three phases via Baku, Azerbaijan, to ensure their safety. The first cohort landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Tuesday evening and was immediately handed over to local authorities for further transport to their respective home provinces, according to antaranews.com.
"Our priority is ensuring the protection of citizens in conflict zones through intensive communication and strategic assessment of their immediate needs," said Heni Hamidah, the Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens, on Wednesday (15/4/2026)..
The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran reported that 281 citizens currently remain in Iran following previous repatriation efforts. Meanwhile, over 700 Indonesians across the Middle East are awaiting flights home as regional aviation services face ongoing disruptions. The government confirmed that a total of 2,284 citizens have been facilitated for independent repatriation since tensions escalated earlier this month.
