Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported a 13.37 percent year-on-year increase in foreign tourist arrivals for February 2026, reaching 1.16 million visits.

"Cumulatively, international arrivals for the first two months of 2026 hit 2.35 million, marking a 7.77 percent rise compared to the same period last year," said Ateng Hartono, the BPS Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The surge was primarily driven by a 68.89 percent annual growth in Chinese travelers, who accounted for 150.82 thousand visits. While Malaysia remained the top contributor with 199.22 thousand arrivals, Singaporean visits also saw a robust 21.81 percent growth.

Conversely, domestic air travel experienced a 7.23 percent decline, though rail and sea transport saw modest gains. These figures underscore a shifting landscape in regional tourism, with East Asian markets showing the strongest recovery and momentum in the early 2026 season.
