Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs has approved a Visa-Free Visit facility for Kazakhstan and Macau during a coordination meeting on Monday, aiming to stimulate national tourism while adhering to the principles of reciprocity and national security.
"It is important to consider the principle of caution and the reciprocal basis, as several countries have not yet provided similar facilities to Indonesian citizens," said Herdaus, the Acting Assistant Deputy for Immigration Service Strategy Coordination, in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com..
While Kazakhstan and Macau received approval, proposals for Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, and New Zealand remain under further review. The Ministry of Tourism is pushing for these facilities to help achieve a target of 16 million foreign arrivals. However, the Directorate General of Immigration emphasized that a selective policy and rigorous screening remain necessary to prevent potential visa misuse and maintain border security.
