Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The House of Representatives (DPR) officially passed the Domestic Workers Protection bill into law during a plenary session in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/4/2026).
Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said that the legislation provides legal certainty for both workers and employers while aiming to eliminate discrimination, exploitation, and harassment, according to antaranews.com.
The law establishes a formal framework for recruitment, work agreements, and dispute resolution. It also mandates vocational training to enhance workers' skills and ensures their right to welfare.
The passage follows two decades of legislative deliberation, concluding on Kartini Day. DPR Legislative Body Chairman Bob Hasan described the timing as a tribute to women's empowerment in Indonesia. The new regulations will govern the relationship between workers, employers, and placement agencies to ensure justice and human rights.
