Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Global Partnership for Poverty Alleviation and Development (GPPAD), an initiative led by China, during the alliance’s first committee meeting in Beijing on Wednesday (27/6/2026).
“It is a great honor to share Indonesia’s perspective on poverty eradication. We share the same concerns in strengthening inclusive development with China and other nations,” said Deputy Minister for Villages and Disadvantaged Regions Ahmad Riza Patria, as reported by antaranews.com.
Indonesia joins Côte d’Ivoire, Brazil, Pakistan, South Africa, and Uzbekistan as vice chairs, with China serving as chair. Deputy Minister Riza emphasized Indonesia’s focus on village development, citing programs under President Prabowo Subianto such as 83,000 village cooperatives, 5,000 fishing villages, free health checks, and nutritious meals for 60 million students.
China’s Vice Premier Liu Guozhong urged collective action, noting 800 million people worldwide still live below the poverty line. GPPAD, involving 53 countries and nine international organizations, aims to share experiences and strengthen global cooperation in poverty reduction.
