inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to monitor the condition of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Iran amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States and has prepared evacuation options if necessary.

According to Heni Hamidah, Acting Director for Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, although monitoring the situation in Tehran and other cities indicates that the situation is currently conducive, the security status of Alert 1, which the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implemented for Iran since June 2025, remains in effect.

"All contingency plans remain in place, including various evacuation options if needed," said Heni, as reported by Antara on Monday (2/23/2026).

She stated that in an effort to monitor the safety of Indonesian citizens in Iran, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran maintains regular and active communication with them.

To date, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran has not received any reports of Indonesian citizens facing any direct threats or situations that endanger their safety. However, she continued, Indonesian citizens are urged to remain vigilant and maintain communication with the Indonesian Embassy.

"All Indonesian citizens in Iran are urged to remain vigilant, monitor the latest developments, and maintain communication with the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran," explained Heni.

Tensions between the US and Iran have not subsided, despite both countries' commitment to resuming indirect bilateral negotiations in March.

US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday (February 19) that Iran has 10 to 15 days to reach an agreement regarding its nuclear program.

The US leader even threatened that "very bad things" would happen if an agreement is not reached.

This situation has prompted several countries to ask their citizens remaining in Iran to leave the country immediately. These countries include Germany, Poland, Sweden, India, and South Korea.
