Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. An Indonesian Military (TNI) soldier serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was killed following an Israeli artillery strike in Southern Lebanon on Sunday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono confirmed the death of Chief Private Farizal Rhomadhon during a press statement in Tokyo on Monday (30/3/2026).

"We strongly condemn the Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon... We request a full investigation from UNIFIL to identify the source of this incident.," he said, as quoted by antaranew.com.

The Indonesian government has formally requested a full investigation from UNIFIL to identify the source of the incident and has instructed the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut to facilitate the repatriation of Praka Farizal's remains.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres also issued a statement via X, condemning the escalation.

The strike targeted the Indonesian contingent's position in Adshit al-Qusyar. In addition to the fatality, the Ministry of Defense and TNI Headquarters confirmed three other casualties, identified as Chief Private Rico Pramudia  who was severely injured, Chief Private Bayu Prakoso, and Chief Private Arif Kurniawan, who both sustained minor injuries.
