Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said Friday (26/9/2025) he respects an appeal from Gerakan Nurani Bangsa (GNB) figures, including former First Lady Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, urging the release of activists held by the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police.
“I have received a letter from GNB, if I am not mistaken, from Ibu Sinta Nuriyah Wahid. Of course, I respect it, we all respect it,” he told reporters at police headquarters in Jakarta, as quoted by antaranews.com.
However, he asked the public to allow investigators at the Metro Jaya Police to complete their probe before deciding whether legal proceedings will move forward. He stressed that detention could only be lifted if requirements for suspension were met.
On Tuesday, Sinta Wahid and other GNB leaders, including former Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim, scholar Komaruddin Hidayat, church leader Gomar Gultom, and ex-KPK chief Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas, sent an official letter requesting release or suspension for activists detained for over 20 days following recent protests.
