The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Unit successfully uncovered the phishing tools syndicate that are operating cross-country that has a total profit of IDR 25 Billion. The two suspects are GWL and FYTP who were arrested in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara on Thursday (4/9/2026).
The case was uncovered by the cyber patrol team where they found suspicious sites who sell phishing scripts. Thorough investigation led the team to w3llstore.com which linked with tools distribution through Telegram bot.
The INP Public Relations Division Chief, Inspector General Johnny Eddison Isir, says that the finding confirms the suspicion on phishing script tools practice that will be used for cyber crimes.
“The seized tools are proven to be used for phishing, including stealing credential information or taking over the victim’s account,” says Johnny.
These tools, Johnny said, will steal the data of the victims after the phishing tools have infiltrated their device. They will steal their username and passwords. and even acquire their login session so that the perpetrators can log in without any OTP code.
The disclosure of this case also involved collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to identify victims in the United States and trace the network of users of the tools.
In its role, GWL was known to have created and managed the tools and distribution channels, while FYTP managed the flow of funds through cryptocurrency and bank accounts. The transaction method shifted from websites to Telegram, using crypto-based payments.
The investigation revealed that the victims were not only from Indonesia, but also from abroad, confirming the transnational nature of this cybercrime.
Currently, investigators are continuing to investigate other parties involved, including the purchasers and users of the phishing tools.
Johnny added that the firm action against the perpetrators also demonstrates that Indonesia is not a safe haven for cybercriminals.
"This success also strengthens global trust in Indonesia's ability to maintain the stability and security of the international digital ecosystem," he concluded.
