inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) held the second Internal Police Strengthening Dialogue with the theme "Transforming Handling of Love Scamming Crimes in Strengthening the Police's Capacity to Face Digital Crime Modes" in South Jakarta on Tuesday (8/4/2026).
This hybrid seminar forum involved personnel from INP Headquarters, regional officials, academics, and several experts in law and forensic psychology.
The dialogue was held in response to the increasing threat of digital crime that exploits emotional connections as a means of fraud, extortion, sexual exploitation, and even human trafficking.
Technological developments, including the use of artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and various social engineering techniques, have made these crime modes increasingly complex and difficult to detect.
The Head of Public Information of INP Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that digital transformation has presented new challenges for law enforcement officers in maintaining cyberspace security.
"Love scamming is no longer just a form of conventional fraud, but has evolved into a crime that exploits emotional relationships to commit fraud, extortion, sexual exploitation, and even transnational crimes," said Trunoyudo.
He explained that perpetrators now utilize social media, messaging apps, online dating platforms, and even artificial intelligence technology to build rapport with victims before exploiting them.
According to him, this situation is a wake-up call for all stakeholders to continue increasing their preparedness in facing the ever-evolving dynamics of digital crime.
"Tackling love scamming requires a comprehensive approach that integrates investigative and criminal investigation capabilities, digital forensic analysis, victim protection, and cross-sectoral collaboration, both at the national and international levels," he said.
Through this forum, INP hopes that all personnel can improve their ability to detect various digital crime modes, strengthen their capacity for electronic evidence-based investigations, enhance victim protection, and expand collaboration with various stakeholders to create a safe, inclusive, and equitable digital space.
