The Chief Assistant for Operations (Astamaops) of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, Commissioner General Mohammad Fadil Imran, conducted a working visit to several operational areas in Papua with the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation and the Amole Task Force to ensure the security and public order in the area.
The working visit was conducted to directly observe the security situation on the ground, review personnel readiness, and ensure optimal operational implementation in supporting security stability and development in Papua.
During the visit, Fadil received presentations from the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation and the Amole Task Force regarding developments in the security and public order situation, measures to address security disturbances, evaluations of operational implementation, and various community development programs implemented in the operational area.
In addition to conducting evaluations, Fadil also interacted with community leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and local residents to gain a firsthand understanding of the social conditions in Papua.
He stated that good communication between security forces and the community is key to maintaining security and stability in the Papua region.
"We want to directly observe conditions on the ground, ensure that security and public order are maintained, and listen to the aspirations of the community. Papua has very strong local characteristics and wisdom, so our approach must prioritize dialogue, respect for culture, and collaboration with all elements of society," said Fadil (7/15/2026).
Furthermore, he emphasized that the success of maintaining security in Papua is determined not only by personnel readiness and the successful execution of operational tasks, but also by the ability to maintain the health of personnel on duty in the field.
He paid particular attention to the threat of malaria, which remains one of the greatest risks for personnel serving in several operational areas in Papua. He reminded all sector commanders to ensure optimal preventive measures are implemented, including diligently taking malaria medication, using mosquito nets and personal protective equipment, and conducting regular health checks.
According to him, the success of an operation is not only measured by achieving assignment targets, but also by the ability of all personnel to complete their tasks in good health and safety.
Furthermore, Fadil instructed that all operational posts continue to be strengthened in terms of personnel protection, logistical support, health services, and command and control functions. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with the Indonesian Military (TNI) and all stakeholders to maintain sustainable security stability.
