inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) is strengthening its efforts to prevent cybercrimes utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) by improving the digital competency of its personnel.
The training was provided to several personnel from the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police and is expected to become trainers and pass on AI knowledge to the public.
Brigadier General Boro Windu Danandito, Vice Chief of the Anti-Corruption Corps, said that the personnel participating in the training will act as liaisons to disseminate information about AI within the community.
"So, we will educate our police officers. Then in turn, these officers will share their knowledge to the others. This could be students, workers, and others," he said at Bina Nusantara University, West Jakarta, Monday (9/14/2026).
Boro said that technological developments have also led to the emergence of various forms of cybercrime, from cyberbullying to online scams.
According to him, the potential for crime must be continuously anticipated as the use of AI, with its various types and capabilities, becomes more widespread.
"There will be indications of radicalism in the AI content itself," he said.
Therefore, police personnel are equipped with knowledge about AI to ensure they have a sufficient understanding before providing education to the public.
Once they have the viable knowledge and comprehension, personnel are expected to be able to deliver education appropriately when interacting directly with the public, especially students.
To improve the digital competence of personnel, INP is collaborating with Bina Nusantara University (Binus). This collaboration is aimed at strengthening personnel's understanding of AI developments and their appropriate use in everyday life.
Harry Surya Adam, Director of the Bina Nusantara Group, stated that AI will become an increasingly integral part of people's lives in the future.
He believes this situation makes understanding AI crucial, especially for police personnel who will later disseminate this knowledge to the public.
