inp.polri.go.di - Jakarta. The Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), Sugeng Teguh Santoso, commended the performance of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police for uncovering 141 cases of motor vehicle theft within the past month. 

According to Sugeng, uncovering motorcycle theft cases is not only important from a law enforcement perspective but also has a significant social impact on the community, especially low-income groups who rely heavily on motorcycles for daily activities and livelihoods.

"The uncovering of 141 motorcycle theft cases by the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police is a remarkable achievement and deserves appreciation. The handling of these cases has strong sociological and criminological dimensions as the victims are mostly from the lower classes," Sugeng said on Wednesday (6/10/2026).

According to IPW records, the successful confiscation of 141 motorcycles and 15 cars during this operation is a significant achievement for the victims. For some, motorcycles are not just assets, but also their primary means of work and family support.

"Most motorcycle owners are factory workers, workers earning the minimum wage, or even online motorcycle taxi drivers. To own these vehicles, they often have to make long installment payments. Therefore, losing a vehicle has a significant impact on their financial situation," he said.

He hopes the process of returning evidence to the victims can be carried out as quickly as possible.
