Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Friday (27/3/2026) that the Iranian government has issued a "positive response" to Jakarta’s request for the safe passage of two state energy company PT Pertamina tankers currently held in the volatile Strait of Hormuz.

"There has been a positive response from the Iranian side following intensive coordination between our ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran," said Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, as cited by antaranews.com.

While technical and operational follow-ups are underway, officials have yet to provide a specific departure timeline for the vessels, owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS). The breakthrough follows a diplomatic push by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia and Foreign Ministry officials to ensure the safety of Indonesian assets amidst regional blockades.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently clarified that while "aggressor nations" remain barred, "friendly nations", including Indonesia, China, Russia, and Malaysia, are permitted to navigate the strategic waterway. Despite the standoff, the Energy Ministry claimed that national energy security remains stable as Indonesia transitioned to alternative supply sources during the bottleneck.
