inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to continuously strengthening efforts to protect children and adolescents from various threats, including the influence of radicalism and terrorism, which are now spread through social media and online forums.
"Social media, online forums, and digital social spaces are often exploited by irresponsible parties to spread ideologies of violence, intolerance, and hatred. Therefore, early prevention efforts are crucial," explained Dwi Oktavia, Head of the Jakarta Child Empowerment, Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) Agency, Wednesday (3/11/2026).
Dwi stated that children and adolescents are the nation's future generation and should grow up in a safe and violence-free environment. However, there have been several cases of children and adolescents being involved in radicalism and terrorism.
According to Dwi, this has opened everyone's eyes to the fact that disseminating information, instilling awareness, and critical thinking skills in filtering information are crucial elements for all children to understand and implement.
"It is our shared responsibility to create a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly environment. Children and adolescents (including students) must not only be protected, but also be agents of peace capable of spreading the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and diversity," explained Dwi.
One effort to strengthen the protection of children and adolescents from the influence of radicalism, he said, is through outreach activities featuring experts on radicalism prevention.
"Outreach activities like the one we are holding today are a form of preventative measure to prevent unwanted incidents from occurring. Let's make DKI Jakarta a child-friendly region where every child grows up happy and protected," said Head of the Department, Dwi.
