Inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. Jambi Regional Police issued a strict public appeal urging residents to refrain from using fire for land clearing as Jambi enters a prolonged dry season, officials reported on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Jambi Police Senior Superintendent Taufik Nurmandia, emphasized the far-reaching impacts of forest and land fires.
"Do not let a small fire become a major disaster, as a single spark can lead to a million consequences," he said, stressing that land burning is both dangerous and illegal. He urged residents to protect the environment and safeguard public health by reporting hot spots immediately.
The Jambi Forest and Land Fire Task Force has intensified ground and air patrols across fire-prone areas to enhance early detection and response times.
Chief Taufik highlighted that collaborative efforts between authorities and local communities are essential to prevent smog disasters and maintain environmental sustainability during the dry season.
