Inp.polri.go.id - Labuan Bajo. Joint forces from the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Indonesian Navy evacuated dozens of inpatient floor residents at Siloam Hospital and Komodo Regional Hospital to outdoor emergency tents in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake on Saturday (15/8/2026).

The joint humanitarian operation involved at least 80 personnel from the West Manggarai Sub-regional Police, Battalion B Pioneer Mobile Brigade (Brimob) East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, and the Labuan Bajo Naval Base. Teams erected four medical tents equipped with field beds, ambulances, and first-aid gear to protect patients against potential aftershocks and structural building failure.

"The safety of patients is our top priority," said West Manggarai Police Chief Superintendent Christian Kadangy. "Although the situation is under control, we cannot ignore the risks of aftershocks or structural cracks. Moving care to open areas is the safest mitigation measure."

Local medical teams are providing continuous healthcare under emergency shelter while Samapta police units conduct dialogic patrols across Labuan Bajo to preserve public order and mitigate panic.
