inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has emphasized the importance of close supervision by superiors after a police officer was again involved in drug crimes.
Kompolnas member Mohammad Choirul Anam made this statement in response to the arrest of the Head of the South Tangerang Sub-regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Senior Inspector Pardiman, in connection with a drug trafficking case.
"Close supervision is indeed necessary by the Police Chief, and by anyone who is directly superior within the authority structure. This close supervision is crucial to ensure that there is no abuse of authority," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday (6/27/2026).
In this case, according to Anam, Police Senior Inspector Aardiman's superiors should also be investigated by the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Professional and Security Division to ensure that inherent oversight is working properly.
"These two things: law enforcement measures and also steps to examine inherent oversight, are important to ensure a similar incident does not recur," he said.
Furthermore, Anam assessed that the arrest of Pardiman demonstrates the police's strong commitment to impartiality in enforcement.
"The police's steps to investigate, uncover, arrest, and so on within the police force are positive steps," he said.
He also assessed that police’s enforcement efforts were a strong warning signal from INP to all members to never abuse their authority and not to get involved in drug cases.
