Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) transported Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo to the KPK headquarters in Jakarta early Saturday morning (11/4/2026) for intensive questioning following a high-profile sting operation conducted in East Java on Friday.

"The Regent arrived at the KPK headquarters at approximately 6.50 am and was immediately taken in for examination," confirmed KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, as cited by antaranews.com 

While the Regent is being questioned in the capital, 15 other people detained during the raid remain under preliminary investigation at the Tulungagung Sub-regional Police headquarters.

Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), investigators have 24 hours to determine the legal status of those apprehended. This operation was the tenth operation conducted by the KPK by the KPK in 2026, signaling an aggressive anti-graft campaign targeting regional leaders and tax officials across Indonesia. 

Notable actions this year include the arrests of the Mayors of Madiun and the Regents of Pati, Pekalongan, Rejang Lebong, and Cilacap, as well as high-ranking officials within the Ministry of Finance.
