Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned former Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, for interrogation after the South Jakarta District Court rejected his pre-trial motion regarding the 2023 and 2024 Hajj quota corruption case.

“We have issued a summons for the individual in question to appear within this week for examination as a suspect,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (11/3/2026), as reported by antaranews.com

He added that the commission is currently evaluating whether to immediately detain the former minister, pending further developments in the investigation.

The court's sole judge, Sulistyo Muhamad Dwi Putro, ruled that the KPK’s designation of Yaqut as a suspect followed all valid legal procedures and was supported by at least two pieces of admissible evidence.

The anti-graft agency alleges that the corruption involving the distribution of additional Hajj quotas resulted in state losses amounting to Rp622 billion. To date, investigators have examined more than 40 witnesses to corroborate the allegations of power abuse and financial irregularities within the Ministry.
