The Director General of Intellectual Property at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Hermansyah Siregar, emphasized that intellectual property protection is a crucial foundation for maintaining a healthy, sustainable, and competitive sports industry ecosystem.

"Sports broadcasting rights are part of copyright that have high economic value and are protected by law," said Director General Hermansyah on Wednesday (4/29/2026).

Therefore, he continued, the practice of illegal broadcasting through unauthorized streaming, the re-distribution of match content, and the use of illegal devices for commercial purposes are forms of violation that harm rights holders and the industry as a whole.

Director General Hermansyah assessed that these violations not only result in financial losses but also hinder the growth of the creative and sports industries in Indonesia.

He emphasized that the protection of sports broadcasting rights must be a shared concern because they are part of intellectual property that must be protected.

Without strong protection, he said, the sports ecosystem will not develop optimally. Therefore, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights urges the public to respect and use content legally, especially for commercial purposes.

Furthermore, Director General Hermansyah believes public awareness is key to reducing the number of violations. He stated that World Intellectual Property Day has become a strategic opportunity to educate the public about the importance of respecting work and investment in sports.

"Through our national campaign, we want to build a culture of respecting intellectual property as part of a modern lifestyle," he said.
