inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Minister of Law Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej revealed the objectives of establishing the Indonesian International Financial Center (PFII) during a working meeting with the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).

In the meeting, which discussed the Draft Law on PFII, Eddy, as he is familiarly known, stated that the first objective is to increase Indonesia's competitiveness as an international financial center.

"Second, to encourage the deepening and innovation of the financial sector; third, to attract investment and business actors in the financial sector, both nationally and internationally," Eddy said, Jakarta, Tuesday (6/23/2026).

The fourth objective is to facilitate financing for the real sector, national strategic projects, sustainable financing, climate financing, infrastructure financing, and/or other financing.

The fifth objective, he continued, is to strengthen the financial sector's contribution to the national economy.

"These are the main points that form the background for the immediate enactment of the Law on the Indonesian International Financial Center," he said.

At the meeting, the government proposed that the PFII Bill be included in the 2026 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).

Eddy explained that Law Number 4 of 2026 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector stipulates that the implementation of PFII is regulated by law.

"The law must be enacted no later than three months after Law Number 4 of 2026 is enacted, namely June 17, 2026," he said.

He continued, adding that to improve the people's welfare, sustainable economic growth and deepening and diversifying the national economy are necessary through effective contributions to the financial sector.

He stated that to achieve this, the PFII needs to be established, with special authority to drive Indonesia's sustainable economy in the future.

"(PFII) is a concentration of financial services, a center for the development of technology and financial support services, and is a trusted financial center whose management is based on the principles of efficiency, transparency, and integrity," he said.

Based on the meeting's results, the Legislation Body agreed that the government's proposed PFII Bill be deliberated in accordance with statutory provisions.
