inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that updating police regulations is necessary to enable the institution to adapt to technological developments and increasingly complex security challenges.

Supratman stated that developments in the strategic environment, advances in information technology, and the dynamics of public security and order require the police to continuously improve its institutional capacity and the professionalism of its human resources.

"The Indonesian National Police (INP), as an instrument of the state, plays a role in maintaining public security and order, enforcing the law, and providing protection, guidance, and services to the public," explained Supratman on Thursday (6/11/2026).

He assessed that the increasingly complex challenges of public security and order have prompted the government to strengthen the legal basis of the police through a revision of the Police Law.

The amendments were approved in a Plenary Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), which ratified the Draft Police Law into law on Tuesday (6/9/2026).

Minister Supratman stated that realizing a just, prosperous, and civilized society based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia requires stable security and domestic order.

Therefore, he stated, improving the performance of INP in carrying out its functions, roles, duties, and authorities is an integral necessity.

The government views a more responsive and adaptive legal framework as an urgent need to ensure the Polri's ability to carry out its duties optimally in line with current developments.
