The Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law is studying the United Kingdom’s single-door royalty collection system to refine Indonesia’s own governance in the upcoming revision of the Copyright Law to make the system more adaptive to digital disruption while ensuring transparency for creators.

"We want to ensure that royalty management in Indonesia becomes simpler, more transparent, and supportive of creators," said Director General of Intellectual Property Hermansyah Siregar on Sunday (20/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com. 

Following a bilateral meeting in London with Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) and Performing Rights Society (PRS) for Music, the DJKI identified the UK’s "The Music Licence" as a prime model for reducing administrative burdens.

The UK system, established in 2018 through the joint venture PPL PRS Ltd, replaced a dual-billing bureaucracy with a single license for commercial music users such as hotels and restaurants.
