inp.polri.go.id - South Sumatra. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo led a public order and security roll call for online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) and workers, "Nyago Bumi Sriwijaya Aman Bae" (Let's Be Safe and Secure) at Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium in Palembang, South Sumatra.

During the event, he emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and national stability.

Sigit initially touched on the increasingly heated global situation. He stated that this could potentially impact the domestic situation. Therefore, he urged all elements of society, including online motorcycle taxi drivers and workers, to continue to unite to maintain the unity of the country.

"Therefore, in a situation like this, the strength of the people, including workers and the online motorcycle taxi community, is needed to continue to unite to maintain unity, resist provocation, and jointly safeguard national stability," Sigit said on Sunday (3/8/2026).

Sigit emphasized that workers play a strategic role in maintaining national economic stability. Sigit said that labor is the main driver of production, supporting industrial activity and economic development.

"Meanwhile, online motorcycle taxi drivers act as a link between MSMEs and consumers, thus driving economic activity, especially in the lower-middle sector," Sigit said.

Sigit further explained that the government continues to focus on improving labor welfare. This includes adjusting the 2026 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), strengthening the Job Loss Insurance Program, and ensuring optimal access to work accident insurance benefits.

Furthermore, to protect online motorcycle taxi drivers from becoming victims of crime, Sigit has instructed the Regional Police Chiefs to develop a Panic Button application.

"Furthermore, to protect online motorcycle taxi drivers who could potentially become victims of robbery, I have asked the Regional Police Chief to immediately prepare a panic button application to protect and safeguard our online motorcycle taxi drivers from becoming victims of street crime," Sigit concluded.
