Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Medan District Court acquitted videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu on Wednesday (1/4/2026) after judges ruled he was not proven guilty of embezzling funds from a village profile video project in Karo Regency.
"The court hereby drops all charges against Amsal Christy Sitepu as the defendant is not proven to have committed any acts of corruption," presiding judge Yusafrihardi Girsang said in the ruling, as reported by antaranews.com.
The verdict stood in stark contrast to the prosecutor's earlier demand for a two-year prison sentence and a Rp 202 million restitution fine. The judicial panel concluded that the defendant’s actions did not meet the criteria for either primary or subsidiary charges under the Anti-Corruption Law. Consequently, the court ordered the immediate restoration of Sitepu's legal rights and professional reputation.
Prosecutors from the Karo District Attorney’s Office had previously argued that Sitepu’s failure to return alleged state losses justified a conviction. However, the court maintained that the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence of criminal intent or financial misappropriation during the project’s execution.
