inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Brigadier Fajar Permana, a member of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, passed away after carrying out his noble duty of ensuring the smooth flow of traffic during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming season. He is believed to have suffered from extreme physical exhaustion and respiratory problems after tirelessly manning public service points.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, expressed his deepest condolences for the passing of Fajar.
He stated that Fajar Permana's dedication during Operation Ketupat 2026 was a true reflection of the spirit of devotion of police personnel, who were willing to set aside personal interests to ensure that millions of travelers could reach their hometowns safely and comfortably.
"We have deeply lost a highly dedicated young Bhayangkara figure like the late Brigadier Fajar Permana. He passed away after carrying out his noble duty. Preliminary suspicions are that the deceased's physical condition declined drastically due to exhaustion after a marathon of field duty serving the community," said Budi in an official statement on Monday (3/23/2026).
He confirmed that the police will pay their last respects and fulfill all the deceased's rights, as well as provide compensation to the bereaved family. This incident has drawn serious attention to continuously evaluate and monitor the health of personnel still on duty in the field to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
As a preventative measure, Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri has instructed the Medical and Health Division to be more proactive in conducting routine health checks at security posts.
This measure is to ensure that every member remains in top condition amidst the high intensity of operational duties during the Eid homecoming and return travel period.
