Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police and the Jakarta administration officially signed a joint agreement on Monday (18/5/2026) to integrate approximately 24,000 CCTV cameras into a centralized surveillance network. T
he initiative aims to enhance public order and traffic management across the capital while stringently protecting citizens' privacy.
"The usage must be clear, standard operating procedures must be prepared, and the protection of public privacy must remain a top priority," said Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri at the Jakarta City Hall, as reported by antaranews.com.
He noted that while the capital possesses a vast number of monitoring units scattered across regional government agencies, regional state-owned enterprises (BUMD), public transport, and private commercial structures, their efficacy remains limited without a unified operating system.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung explained that the integrated grid will pull feeds from critical infrastructure, including the MRT, LRT, Transjakarta networks, traffic monitoring loops, and private buildings exceeding four stories. The shared data environment is designed to significantly reduce response times for municipal emergencies and crime prevention, feeding directly into the province's collaborative "Jaga Jakarta" safety program. Technical teams from both institutions are slated to deploy the data standards and secure access protocols immediately.
