Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police confirmed on Thursday (2/4/2026) that a forensic investigation is underway to determine the cause of a massive fire at a Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) in Cimuning, Bekasi.
"The cause of the fire, which was accompanied by explosions and fireballs, is currently being investigated by the Bekasi Metropolitan Sub-regional Police and the Forensic Laboratory," said Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Police, as cited by antaranews.com.
The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, resulted in 14 residents suffering severe burn injuries, with some victims reported to have burns covering up to 90% of their bodies.
Beyond the facility, the blaze destroyed or heavily damaged nearby houses, rental units, shops, and warehouses. Acting Deputy Mayor of Bekasi, Abdul Harris Bobihoe, visited the site on Thursday and guaranteed that the local administration would cover all medical expenses for the victims, ensuring full state support during their recovery.
While preliminary reports suggest a potential gas leak or electrical short circuit, official conclusions are pending the forensic results. Firefighters extinguished the flames in the early hours of Thursday after an intensive multi-hour operation supported by residents.
