inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Trade Budi Santoso stated that Minyakita is no longer part of the government's food aid program.

Budi stated that all Minyakita supplies will be focused on meeting public needs through distribution in traditional markets. 

"Now, there is no longer any Minyakita for food aid. The cooking oil will be distributed to traditional markets so that people can easily obtain Minyakita," he said on Monday (6/8/2026).

He adds that his ministry continues to coordinate with producers, the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), and ID Food to ensure the smooth and accessible distribution of Minyakita.

Furthermore, he also emphasized that Minyakita is not subsidized cooking oil. It is a product under the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) scheme, which requires businesses to provide supplies to meet domestic needs.

On the other hand, Budi stated that future government food aid will be more flexible, adapting to market conditions and commodity absorption needs.

If an oversupply causes a commodity's selling price to fall, the government may consider that commodity for food aid.

The Minister of Trade cited the example of eggs being used as food aid when prices at the farmer level decline. A similar scheme can also be applied to other commodities, such as chicken meat.

Furthermore, the cooperation between the food aid program and the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program opens up opportunities for the absorption of various food commodities experiencing price pressures at the producer level.

"Furthermore, cooperation with MBG extends beyond eggs to other basic necessities that will eventually decline, such as chicken. If chicken prices fall at the farmer’s level, MBG can also absorb them from the farmers. This is to ensure the ecosystem is functioning well," concluded Budi.
