Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco confirmed on Tuesday (19/5/2026) that no Indonesian were harmed in a fatal shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego (ICSD) in California.
The attack, which occurred on Monday left five people dead, including a security guard and two teenage suspects.
"We are constantly communicating with the Indonesian Muslim community to ensure the safety of our citizens following this incident," said Afina Burhanuddin, the Consulate's Consul for Information, Social, and Cultural Affairs, as cited by antaranews.com.
She added that while local authorities have not released an official motive, the San Diego Police Department suspects the attack was a hate crime targeting the Muslim community.
San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl confirmed that his department is collaborating with the FBI. The ICSD is the largest Islamic center and place of worship in San Diego.
