Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. North Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Waris Agono visited the conflict-stricken villages of Sibenpopo and Bobane Jaya on Monday (6/4/2026), providing personal security guarantees and outlining a comprehensive recovery plan for displaced residents.

"I urge the villagers who are currently taking refuge to return home immediately, as I personally guarantee that the situation in Sibenpopo is now secure," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The regional police chief, accompanied by provincial leaders, inspected damaged properties and confirmed that the government would fund the reconstruction of homes destroyed during the recent communal unrest. To prevent further violence, the North Maluku Police committed to establishing a permanent security post in Sibenpopo and maintaining a high-visibility presence of joint police and military personnel to restore public confidence.

During dialogues with displaced families in Central Halmahera, officials also addressed long-standing land boundary disputes and pledged to accelerate legal proceedings against those responsible for the initial violence. Authorities reminded the public to ignore provocative social media content and ethnic-based rumors, emphasizing that cross-agency cooperation is now focused on ensuring long-term communal harmony and physical reconstruction.
