inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. North Maluku Regional Police Chief Inspector General Waris Agono, while inspecting the location following the conflict between denizens of Sibenpopo Village and Bobane Jaya Village, Central Halmahera, provided assurances of security and post-conflict recovery.
"We, the police, are also representing the North Maluku Provincial Government, that several damaged houses will be rebuilt. As the Regional Police Chief, I implore the denizens of Siboenpopo Village who are currently displaced to return to their homes. I guarantee that the situation in Siboenpopo Village has now returned to normal," explained Waris on Monday (4/6/2026).
Upon arrival in Siboenpopo Village, West Patani District, Waris personally led an inspection of several damaged homes.
"This inspection aims to monitor the security situation and ensure the recovery process for affected residents," said Waris. He also confirmed that his team would establish a security post in Siboenpopo Village in accordance with residents' requests.
He emphasized the commitment of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) to providing a sense of security and safety through tight security. Waris hopes that similar incidents will not recur, and that the denizens of Bobane Jaya Village and Siboenpopo Village can once again live side by side peacefully.
On that occasion, Waris also reminded the public not to be provoked by issues of ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations (SARA) circulating on social media.
Finally, he urged the public to exercise restraint and not be easily influenced by unverified information.
