Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, confirmed on Tuesday (8/7/2025)  that Pacu Jalur, a traditional boat racing event from Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, has been officially registered as part of Indonesia’s national intangible cultural heritage.

“The Ministry of Culture has formally recorded it as Indonesia’s intangible cultural heritage. It’s been listed for quite some time,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Pacu Jalur, which features wooden rowing boats and has recently gone viral as part of the TikTok aura farming trend, is recognized for its cultural richness and expressive performances.

“The dancers at the boat’s tip move organically and in sync with the rhythm of the race, performing highly challenging and expressive motions. Maintaining balance is key,” Minister Fadli added.

He praised those promoting Indonesian heritage globally through platforms like social media, helping to raise awareness of the archipelago’s diverse traditions.
