Inp.polri.go.id - Wamena. The Papua Regional Police has issued an official appeal urging local communities to abandon inter-tribal warfare as a means of dispute resolution. Authorities are advocating for peaceful negotiations grounded in regional brotherhood, humanitarian values, and established statutory legal frameworks instead.

Speaking in Wamena, Papua Mountains, Papua Police Chief Inspector General Patrige R. Renwarin said that social frictions should be mediated constructively without triggering armed inter-tribal clashes that endanger lives.

"We from the police force hope that warfare will no longer be used in conflict resolution because it leads to casualties," he said. "Instead, use other avenues without discarding essential cultural values. We are all brothers, so tribal warfare must not be deployed to solve problems, as it only generates new conflicts."

Chief Renwarin highlighted that recent tensions in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, were initially sparked by localized traffic accidents. To prevent minor friction from escalating into widespread communal unrest, he urged motorists to exercise extreme caution and strictly adhere to traffic regulations. 

Furthermore, he reiterated that the police force fully supports peaceful dispute mediation in the Papua Mountainsregion through Indonesia's positive legal channels to ensure stable and equitable outcomes.
