inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Bali Regional Police have identified the rapist of a Chinese citizen returning from a bar late at night in Labuansait, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali.
The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Bali Regional Police, Senior Superintendent I Gede Adhi Muliawarman, stated that the perpetrator, SAM (23), was arrested by investigators at the victim's accommodations when he attempted to return the victim's cellphone, which he had taken after the rape on Monday (3/23/2026) night.
"When the perpetrator returned to the victim's villa, he said that he wanted to return the victim's cellphone. We were waiting there with the vehicle he was using, before we ambushed him," said Adhi in Denpasar on Friday (3/27/2026)
The victim, identified as RF, is a Chinese woman who was temporarily staying at Wingsu Guest House, Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Badung.
The victim had initially been enjoying entertainment at a bar in South Kuta on Monday, March 23, 2026. At around 4:30 a.m. the victim left the bar under the influence of alcohol.
The victim then allegedly used a motorcycle taxi service, but was unable to determine whether it was an app or a traditional motorcycle taxi.
During the trip, the victim realized the driver was not heading to her accommodation, but rather towards a quiet, tree-lined area around Labuan Sait, Pecatu.
At that location, the perpetrator stopped the vehicle and forced the victim onto a grassy area. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her, leading to forced intercourse.
After the incident, the victim requested a ride back to her accommodation at Wingsu Guest House. The perpetrator agreed to the request and asked to borrow the victim's iPhone 14 for directions.
Upon arrival at the accommodation, the victim gave the perpetrator 150,000 Rupiah and told him to leave because she was afraid. The perpetrator immediately left, taking the victim's cell phone with him.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered trauma, fear, and lost valuables. She then reported the incident to the Bali Regional Police.
For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with rape and/or physical sexual harassment as referred to in Article 473 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
The perpetrator has been named a suspect and is being held at the Bali Regional Police detention center for further investigation.
