inp.polri.go.id - Purwakarta. The Purwakarta Sub-regional Police have arrested the perpetrator of the assault that killed Dadang (58), the host of a wedding celebration in Kertamukti Village, Campaka District, Purwakarta Regency, on Saturday (4/4/26).

A joint team from the Purwakarta Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the West Java Regional Police's Violence Criminal Investigation Unit successfully apprehended the main perpetrator, identified as YI (36), while hiding on the Sagalaherang Alternative Road, Subang Regency, on Monday (4/6/2026).

Purwakarta Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent I Dewa Putu Gede Anom Danujaya, stated that the arrest was made after the perpetrator fled following the incident.

"This afternoon on Monday, we successfully apprehended the main perpetrator who beat the victim to death. He is currently in custody and undergoing investigation," said Anom on Tuesday (4/7/2026).

During the arrest, the perpetrator resisted, prompting officers to take firm action. Investigators also secured several pieces of evidence, including the bamboo pieces used to assault the victim, the victim's and the perpetrator's clothing, a video recording, and a bottle of liquor.

"The perpetrator resisted arrest, so we were forced to take firm, measured action," said Anom.

According to Anom, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday (4/4/2026) at around 3:00 PM, while the victim was at his daughter's wedding reception. The suspect, who arrived drunk, asked the host for IDR 500,000 to buy liquor.

Anom stated that the request was initially granted with IDR 100,000, but the suspect refused. Angered and under the influence of alcohol, the suspect caused a commotion and eventually struck the victim with a bamboo stick and his bare hands.

As a result of the attack, the victim fell and lost consciousness. He was taken to Bakti Husada Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 3:20 PM.

Anom stated that the perpetrator was a repeat offender in aggravated theft, having been convicted in 2007 and sentenced to three years in prison. Furthermore, the suspect is also known to be unemployed.

In addition to YI, police also arrested another suspect with the initials K (35), who is suspected of being involved in the assault of another victim and is currently under investigation. For his actions, the suspect is being charged with assault resulting in death, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

"The perpetrator is being charged under Article 466 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 466 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison," explained the Police Chief.
