West Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, Superintendent Arfan Zulkan Sipayung, stated that the two were arrested on Sunday (4/26/2026) evening.

"Two people have been arrested by the police," Arfan said via text message in Jakarta on Monday (4/27/2026).

The two perpetrators are still being questioned regarding their motive for throwing the acid at the victim.

According to the local residents, the acid attack began with an argument while the victim and the perpetrator were playing futsal.

A witness named Slamet said the victim was involved in a dispute at the futsal court, which led to a chase on the street.

"He said (the victim) had just finished sparring in a futsal match. Maybe there was some altercations or something, and things escalated," said Slamet when met at the location.

According to Slamet, the victim, who was riding an electric bicycle, was chased by the perpetrator on a motorcycle. Shortly afterward, the perpetrator allegedly threw acid at the victim.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered injuries to the right side of his body.

People at the scene panicked and immediately rendered aid. The victim was then taken to a nearby clinic for medical treatment.
