inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate has uncovered a drug operation in two boarding houses in South Jakarta.
Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate, Police Assistant Superintendent Indah Hartantiningrum, stated that during the operation, police arrested two suspects, identified as Q (23) and A (24), and confiscated a total of 487.38 grams of synthetic tobacco and manufacturing equipment.
"From the investigation, we obtained information that the suspects were manufacturing the drugs independently in their limited-sized boarding houses and distributing them covertly through social media accounts, targeting young consumers," Indah said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/19/2026).
She explained that the investigation stemmed from public reports regarding suspected narcotics distribution in South Jakarta.
The first bust was made on Saturday (8/1/2026) on M Kahfi I street, Jagakarsa District. Police arrested suspect Q (23) along with evidence of synthetic tobacco weighing 101.28 grams, digital scales, plastic clips, duct tape, and a cell phone.
"Based on initial investigation, suspect Q admitted to obtaining the illicit goods through Instagram by posting them in specific locations and reselling them using the same method," said Indah.
Then, the second bust took place on Tuesday (8/4/2026) at a boarding house on Matasan 2 street, Pasar Minggu District, South Jakarta. At this location, police arrested suspect A (24) and found synthetic tobacco weighing a total of 386.1 grams.
In addition to the ready-to-distribute tobacco, officers also confiscated raw materials and production equipment, including 330 grams of pure tobacco, three bottles of vape liquid containing synthetic seeds, two bottles of alcohol, precursor materials, an electronic scale, a set of cooking/mixing utensils, and a cell phone.
"From the results of the examination, the evidence was recognized as belonging to the perpetrator. Police also found evidence of transactions via social media, involving transfers and the collection of goods using a mapping method," said Indah.
