inp.polri.go.id - Batam. The Riau Islands Regional Police's Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate announced the results of its case investigations from February 12 to April 7, 2026. During that period, the authority successfully uncovered 41 drug crimes, with a total of 58 suspects arrested.

Riau Islands Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Pricillia Ohei Dari, stated that of the dozens of cases, six stand out, including the uncovering of a drug network controlled from within a prison and the distribution of a new type of narcotic, Etomidate (vape liquid).

"From these dozens of cases, the police successfully seized evidence, including 1,732.25 grams of methamphetamine, 18,403 ecstasy pills, 2,568 Etomidate tablets, and 162.36 grams of Happy Water," she said on Friday (4/10/2026).

Riau Islands Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Pricillia Ohei Dari, stated that the case uncoverings are a form of transparency and legal compliance by his party as they destroyed evidence from 24 Police Reports (LP) involving a total of 32 suspects. This destruction was carried out after investigators received a Narcotics Confiscation Status Determination Letter from the Batam District Attorney's Office (Kejari).

All drug evidence was destroyed using an incinerator owned by the Riau Islands National Narcotics Agency (BNNP). He said the use of high-temperature equipment ensures that all prohibited substances are completely burned and leave no residue that could harm the environment.

"The details of the evidence destroyed after some was set aside for laboratory testing and court proceedings are: Crystal/Solid Methamphetamine: 1,828.56 grams (out of a total seizure of 1,937.69 grams), Ecstasy: 18,129 pills (out of a total seizure of 18,300 pills), and Etomidate (Liquid Vape): 2,529 tablets (out of a total seizure of 2,571 tablets)," he explained.

Furthermore, Pricillia stated that several cases highlighted in this release include the arrest of a husband and wife, identified as AY and NS, in Lubuk Baja, with 183.61 grams of methamphetamine, which was controlled by their child from within the prison. The Operational Team also successfully thwarted the distribution of 9,962 ecstasy pills and 200 vape pens containing Etomidate in the Sagulung area, carried out by suspects HPU and N.

Through this successful disclosure and destruction, the police estimate that they have saved approximately 30,559 people from the dangers of narcotics.
