inp.polri.go.id - South Kalimantan. South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan held a dialogue with corn farmers in Banyu Irang Village, Tanah Laut Regency, as an effort to support the food security program.
The event took place on Monday (6/29/2026) and was attended by 17 farmer representatives from various farmer groups in the region.
During the meeting, Rosyanto gathered various aspirations and challenges faced by farmers.
"All input and complaints from farmers are very useful for us to improve governance to support future food security programs," he said.
One issue of concern was the limited supply of diesel fuel for agricultural machinery. In response, Rosyanto immediately instructed his personnel to collect data on farmer groups experiencing similar challenges so that solutions could be found immediately.
According to him, the availability of seeds, fertilizer, agricultural machinery, and fuel must be ensured to support Tanah Laut as a corn production center in South Kalimantan.
Balot, a farmer, acknowledged that support from the South Kalimantan Regional Police has boosted their enthusiasm for corn cultivation.
"We need the help in solar procurement as so far we've relied solely on retail purchases and are having difficulty obtaining it at gas stations," he said.
He also noted that the assistance of agricultural machinery from the local government, driven by the police, has helped overcome several challenges in the field.
Furthermore, farmers welcomed the price fluctuations table initiated by the police to maintain stable corn prices at the farmer level to prevent middlemen from manipulating them.
The program is expected to continue strengthening food security through synergy between the police, the local government, and farmers.
