inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The North Sulawesi Regional Police sends 204 personnel to support the handling of flash flood in Siau Island, Siau-Tagulandang-Biaro (Sitaro) Island Regency.

“The North Sulawesi Regional Police has sent its unit to the Sitaro Island to help handle the flash flood disaster,” says the Head of North Sulawesi Regional Police Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Alamsyah P. Hasibuan on Tuesday (1/6/2025).

The combined police force departed from Manado and Bitung for Sitaro by ship on the afternoon of January 5, 2026.

"A total of 204 personnel will be dispatched, consisting of Brimob (Mobile Brigade), Samapta, Polair (Water Police), Dokkes (Health Police), and Public Relations personnel," said Alamsyah.

The dispatched personnel will work together with personnel from the Sitaro Islands Sub-regional Police, relevant agencies, and local residents to carry out various humanitarian activities, including evacuation, search for victims, aid distribution, infrastructure restoration, and health services.

The flash flood that struck the Sitaro Islands on January 5, 2026, caused loss of life and damage to infrastructure.

"We are ready to assist the Sitaro community affected by the flash flood. We will collaborate with the local government and relevant agencies to restore Sitaro," the Head of Public Relations emphasized.

Preliminary data from the flash floods in several residential areas shows 14 deaths, injuries, and damage to homes, including the Sitaro Islands Police Headquarters.
