Inp.polri.go.id - Nabire. Security forces neutralized a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) on Sunday (10/5/2026) following an attack on a civilian vehicle traveling along the Nabire–Paniai trans-road in Dogiyai, Central Papua. 

The incident began when armed suspects targeted a vehicle, injuring the driver, identified as AP, who was subsequently rushed to Moenamani Hospital for medical treatment.

"I have received the report, and our officers have secured the location," said Brigadier General Jermias Rontini, the Head of the Central Papua Regional Police, as cited by antaranews.com. 

He explained that when police and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers arrived at the scene, they were met with gunfire, leading to a direct shootout.

Authorities shot the suspects, resulting in the death of a KKB member identified as Napison Tebai, reportedly a member of a Odiyai Dogiyai group. 

Following the exchange, security forces swept the area and seized several items, including a 5.56 mm caliber homemade firearm, ammunition, and various sharp weapons. Acting Dogiyai Police Chief Superintendent Denis Arya Putra confirmed that routine patrols have been intensified in the Kali Kasuari and Idadagi areas to prevent further disruptions.
