Inp.polri.go.id - Lamongan. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps will summon all taxi operators to discuss service standard operating procedures following the fatal train collision at East Bekasi Station after a taxi was involved in the initial accident that led to a secondary collision, resulting in 15 deaths.
"We have sent letters to all taxi operators, especially those currently using electric vehicles (EVs), to gather them for education on railway crossing safety," said Brigadier General Faizal, the Director of Law Enforcement at Korlantas Polri, during a House of Representatives (DPR) discussion on Thursday (30/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com..
The police aim to clarify emergency protocols for EVs that stall on tracks, noting that manufacturers provide specific mechanisms to move stationary electric cars.
Chief Faizal emphasized the need for driver education to handle high-risk situations effectively. The investigation is currently split into two parts: the initial traffic accident involving a Green SM Indonesia taxi handled by the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police, and the subsequent train-to-train collision being investigated for potential criminal negligence.
