inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police will conduct a psychiatric examination on suspect Taufik Hidayat (30). This step is being taken to determine the psychological condition of the suspect in the kidnapping and assault of YTR (29).

West Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, assessed that the pattern of violence Taufik allegedly committed against the victim was extreme and far from normal behavior in a relationship.

"Because what he did, as you know, is something unnatural, something unusual towards their lover, which we could say is excessive or sadistic," explained Rudi, quoted on Wednesday (June 24, 2026).

He hopes that the results of this psychiatric examination will provide complete information about the suspect before the case file is transferred to the next stage. 

In addition to awaiting the psychiatric examination, investigators have placed Taufik in a special detention cell equipped with 24-hour surveillance cameras.

"We will detain him in a special cell, where we have installed CCTV and he will be alone, under our supervision," he said.

He further explained that the results of the health and drug tests confirmed Taufik was in good condition and tested negative for narcotics. 

However, the torture he inflicted on the victim was carried out under the influence of alcohol.

"Earlier, he stated that he regretted it, as he did it under the influence of alcohol," Rudi said.
