inp.polri.go.id - Maluku. The Maluku Regional Police's Security and Profession Division is still investigating the alleged disappearance of drugs evidence, which has implicated the Head of the Buru Sub-regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit.

"During the investigation, the Security and Profession Division revealed discrepancies between the rumors circulating in the public and the statements of narcotics suspect Saleh Tan," said the Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Rositah Umasugi.

She stated that since the issue surfaced, the Maluku Regional Police Chief has instructed the Security and Profession Division to conduct a professional, objective, and transparent investigation into all circulating information.

"Every piece of information circulating in the public is of serious concern to the Maluku Regional Police Chief," she said.

Police is now conducting a thorough investigation, examining case documents, and seeking clarification from parties directly familiar with the incident, including the suspects involved in the case, so that any conclusions drawn are based on facts, not opinions or assumptions.

One of the steps taken was to ask Saleh Tan for clarification on June 23, 2026. In his statement, Saleh Tan denied the existence of approximately 80 grams of methamphetamine as evidence, as had been rumored.

According to Saleh Tan, during a drugs investigation on August 8, 2025, at a boarding house in front of the Buru Regency DPRD Office, police officers only found one package of methamphetamine in the possession of suspect Iswar Amin.

He admitted to being unaware of the 80 grams of methamphetamine and therefore could not confirm the alleged disappearance of that amount of evidence.

Saleh Tan also revealed that while in the Maluku Regional Police detention center, he was visited by four Buru Sub-regional Police officers along with a journalist.

As a demonstration of this commitment, Rositah said, the Maluku Regional Police have imposed Dishonorable Discharge sanctions on four Buru Sub-regional Police officers found guilty of drug abuse.

Even though the four personnel were categorized as users, said Rositah, they were still processed according to legal provisions and the INP’s code of ethics.

Rositah added that the Maluku Regional Police remain open to the public to submit new information and evidence that can be legally accounted for.
