inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Karawang Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fiki Novian Ardiansyah, revealed a growing trend of dealers to smuggle drugs for the sake of free drugs.
"The suspects' motives for committing these crimes are economic factors and the desire to consume free methamphetamine," said Chief Fiki on Thursday (5/14/2026).
From March to May 14, 2026, the Karawang Sub-regional Police uncovered 31 cases involving narcotics, psychotropic drugs, and certain hard drugs, with a total of 41 suspects.
Fiki also highlighted the uncovering of a case involving over 1 kilogram of methamphetamine involving a suspect with the initials SD. Officers confiscated 1,007.40 grams of methamphetamine, along with digital scales and packaging equipment.
Investigations led police to another suspect, identified as DN, alias Abah, in Purwakarta. The two are suspected of receiving methamphetamine supplies from a fugitive with the initials TL, alias Godek, through a "stick-on" system.
According to Fiki, the suspects were promised a reward of IDR 10 million for every 100 grams of methamphetamine successfully distributed in the Karawang and Purwakarta areas.
He emphasized that all suspects will be prosecuted without exception. "The suspects are being charged with narcotics abuse, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison," the Police Chief stated.
