inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Bandung City SUb-regional Police Traffic Unit is implementing artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 to monitor traffic flow during the 2026 Eid homecoming season.

First Police Inspector Hany Amelia, Head of the Security and Safety Sub-unit of the Traffic Unit, stated that monitoring is carried out through the Smart City Road Safety Policing system, which is part of the modernization program developed by the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps.

"This is to support security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow during the Eid homecoming season," said Hany on Friday (3/20/2026).

According to her, 200 CCTV cameras have been installed at several strategic locations in Bandung. Through this technology, officers can monitor traffic conditions directly in the field.

She explained that this system is capable of quickly detecting vehicle density, potential congestion, and traffic disruptions so that officers can promptly address them.

Furthermore, the CCTV cameras are equipped with automatic analysis capabilities, from calculating vehicle volume, recognizing vehicle types, to reading license plates.

Hany stated that public movement at several points, such as tourist areas and vital objects, can also be monitored, especially during the surge in activity during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"This system is also enhanced with digital geospatial maps that allow officers to view comprehensive traffic conditions in various areas," he said.

With this feature, officers can predict potential congestion, map accident-prone areas, and monitor road disruptions more accurately.
