inp.polri.go.id - Tuban. President Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation for various innovations in the food and energy sectors, which he believes can strengthen national resilience amidst the global crisis.
The President expressed his appreciation in his remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for 10 Indonesian National Police Food Security Warehouses and the operational launch of 166 Indonesian National Police Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in 2026 in Tuban Regency, East Java, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
“I’m happy, seriously. Why? Because while the world is experiencing an energy crisis, countries are panicking, I’m told, ‘Sir, you need not worry, we can make charcoal briquettes from corncobs.’ I thought that’s incredible. Those cobs that were previously unused can now be a source of energy. That's truly incredible,” said the President.
The Head of State called the innovation of utilizing corncobs to make charcoal briquettes a major breakthrough. According to him, this innovation demonstrates that Indonesia has creative, innovative human resources who persevere in the face of challenges.
"In the midst of a crisis, Indonesia has many smart and innovative people who never give up, who dare to seek knowledge," he said.
In addition to the innovation of corncob charcoal briquettes, the President also highlighted the development of low-calorie coal fertilizer, which is considered capable of strengthening the independence of the national agricultural sector. The President emphasized that Indonesia must be able to reduce its dependence on imported fertilizer.
"Once we are free from dependence on foreign fertilizers, we will be very strong. I ask that this be implemented; the concept is a good invention," he said.
