inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto received United States Under Secretary of War for Policy Affairs Elbridge Colby and his delegation at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss strengthening relations and partnerships between Indonesia and the United States.

Following the meeting, Colby expressed his honor at meeting with President Prabowo. The warm and constructive meeting was part of efforts to continue strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

"It is an extraordinary honor to meet with the President and his team," Colby said in a statement from the Presidential Secretariat's BPMI in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/12/2026).

Colby emphasized that the United States government is optimistic about strengthening relations with Indonesia. He stated that this step in improving their relationship is based on the principle of mutual respect and increased cooperation between the two countries.

"I think the US government is very optimistic about advancing our relationship with Indonesia, based on the principle of a partnership of mutual respect and increased, deeper cooperation," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to visit Indonesia. Colby also expressed his hope that relations between Indonesia and the United States will become even stronger.

"We are honored to be here and look forward to continuing our thriving relationship with Indonesia," Colby concluded.
